आज ही के दिन किया था भारत ने पाकिस्तान पर हमला जम्मू-कश्मीर पर पाक सेना के हमलो को रोकने के लिए 6 सितंम्बर 1965 को भारत ने पशिचमी पाकिस्तान पर हमला किया था। तीन सप्ताह तक चले युद्ध के बाद, भारत-पाक सयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा प्रायोजित युद्धविराम पर सहमत हुए थे। जम्मू -कश्मीर समेंत सभी मुद्दों को शांतिपुर्ण ढंग से सुलझाने के लिए भारत-पाक ने 1966 में ताशकंद घोषणापत्र पर हस्ताक्षर  किए थे। हलांकि भारत का मन्ना है की इस युद्ध में जीत भारत की हुई थी।।
